Hi. I am glad you seem to be happy with your tattoo. I dont have any but have thought of it many times.
However, in Japan I have seen places where you cannot enter with tattoos, so it may be wise to hide it if you are in Japan.

It's ok, it's on an easy spot to hide with a t-shirt or cardigan

I didn't know you weren't allowed in some places with them - what kind of places are they?

I do not really know if there is a general rule, but I guess places that oppose the やくざ may have a ban on いれずみ. I have seen it on the door of いざかや, and I have heard いれずみ are not welcome in せんとう either.

いれずみ = tattoo
やくざ = japanese mafia
居酒屋 / いざかや = japanese pub
銭湯 / せんとう = bath-house, public bath

Oops. The answer almost became a riddle or Japanese lesson

By the way, would this be a good way to learn new vocabulary on beginner level, to have the vocabulary inserted into English sentences? I thought of writing lessons on Japan and Japanese culture in English stories and at the same time be teaching some related vocabulary?

yes! i like your story and it seems like a very natural way to incorporate new vocabulary.

it gives one the chance to replace the more comfortable word with the Japanese.
