Haha, I was wondering because I couldn't find it anywhere on this site.

What Dialect of Japanese are we learning?

I want to be able to visit Tokyo, Japan and I thought that I would start online before I bought a large amount of books.

But with this dialect will I be able to to visit Tokyo and speak there dialect??

I think the text book Japanese language is somekind of 'high' Japanese. It is grammatically correct and is also taught in Japanese schools.

If you use some language help to hear the spoken language, they can use Japanse people from all over Japan, but they will suppress there dialect as much as possible so it will sound as 'high' Japanse.

If you are a Japanese anime fan though, all bets are off.
They can use all kinds of dialect and make even fun of it.
Most of it will be meaningless for us がいじん but still it will give you an idea of what kind of dialects they use.

If you use the language you learn from the books you will be understood, although I bet you will have one hell of an accent

Most textbooks, and almost all of the information on this site teach Japanese as it is spoken in Tokyo. If you learn this, I believe that you should be understood pretty much anywhere in Japan, although you may occasionally have trouble understanding things people say to you in places far away from Tokyo.

We have tried to use standard Japanese (標準語, hyoujungo) in the lessons, and this is pretty much the Tokyo dialect. And in the cases we use casual language or slang, it's mostly Tokyo-style language.

So, it will be no problem to use it at your trip to Tokyo.
