In my text book there is a quiz section and one of the tasks is to answer questions given in 日本語.

There is a question I'am not sure I translated correctly:

あなたの 好きな りょうりの つくり方を かんたんに せつめい して下さい。

I think it translates as:
Please, explain a simple cooking recipe you like.

Somehow this does not ring true. Is this a correct translation?

Hi!

I would translate it as "Please, describe a recipe you like with simple instructions."

(You might see from the above that I'm not a native English speaker.) I think that かんたんに here implies that they want that recipe described with simple sentences that are easy to understand.

Your translation makes a lot more sens then my own.
The 'に' in 'かんたんに' threw me of. It relates to 'せつめい' and not to 'りょうりの つくり方' as I originally thought.
