News Date: 2008-11-14, Submitted By: Doff Topic: November News! Hey! Once again it's time for a news update, a little late this month though, i've sent my computer in for repair, so haven't been much on. I'll hopefully get it back sometime next week. Alright, so what's been going on since the last news update? First of all, we got a new listener peak, 607 listeners tuned in at the same time, not bad! We're still 393 from 1k though ^_^ I've been trying to do live shows as often as possible as i'm sure some of you've noticed, but more importantly, i hope you like hearing a voice on the radio from time to time. Will get back to the live show thingy when i get my computer back. About the poll we're currently running, "Where are you tuning in from" the results aren't exactly surprising, but we got: Nr. 1 Europe. Nr. 2 North America. Nr. 3 Asia. It's kind of nice to know where people are sitting when clicking the play button. Another thing i guess i could mention is that Christmas is closing up, so look forward to a refreshing theme during the Christmas days and a little more special playlist. I believe that's it for now, be good, have fun, request songs, rate, and stay tuned! Date: 2008-10-05, Submitted By: Doff Topic: October News! Anime Music! Hi, i noticed that the time has come to make a news post for Oct. There haven't really been many changes this month, we had a little downtime a few days ago, due to that the web server crashed, and had to be manually restarted which also caused the stream to go offline. The streaming program we are using requires to be connected to the sql server at all times. We had to buy another 50 192k slots because of high server load, i kind of like when i have to do that, instead of having to get rid of slots, growth is always a nice thing ^_^ Now, i just want to thank everyone who are supporting us by donating, this might sound like a hint, which it actually is, but without you guys, it would be completely impossible to run a radio streaming at 192kbps, so thank you very much! I know i've said this before, but to those of you who are reading this, and still haven't registered, please do! You'll get a much better AnimeNfo Radio experience. If you're wondering about anything, don't hesitate to ask me or a mod in the chatterbox, if it's not appropriate there, send a mail. Be good! Ps. Watch Wangan Midnight. *edit, Chatter box has been disabled for non-logged in users to make site load faster. Date: 2008-09-12, Submitted By: Doff Topic: September News! Hello everyone! I'm gonna use this month's post as an oppertunity to thank all of you who are listening to AnimeNfo Radio. We have achived some great things the this week, the first is that we finally reached 1 million ratings. The rating button has basically been pressed 1 million times, and that's ALOT, nice work everyone! The current user at the very top is Peltoilves with 9774 rated songs. The second thing is that the radio just recently had a new listener record, 525 people were tuned in at the same time, which is not bad at all, we aim for 1000 trough, of course :) Now, we are currently in the progress of "creating" a new genere, which basically means that we will launch a tehcno/trance/remix genere which will be called "JTTR". Some songs will be offline during the time it will take to move them etc. A few other playlist/block feautres are also on their way, but we will get further into that when the time comes. Cheers! Date: 2008-09-11, Submitted By: supers Topic: one million ratings! Congrats to Anragaz for the one millionth rating. The winning song was Shizuku Ippai no Kioku by Hirasawa Susumu. Date: 2008-08-10, Submitted By: Doff Topic: August News! Hello everyone! Long time no "newsed", had a nice summer? Well, the main reason is that I just came home from a most awesome month of vacation in Japan. I mean, from a European point of view, everything, and I mean everything simply seems dull after coming home from a country like that. I'll give you an example: The last night we were there, we went clubbing till 7am in this huge techno club (you have to be 20 to drink in Japan btw) what do you think one of the Dj's fired up while we where there? A heavily mixed version of Akino - Sousei no Aquarion! The whole place simply exploded, and I bet if they had played the Black Lagoon opening or something I would've started crying out loud. Anyway, if you haven't been there, you should seriously consider it. Now, things are good with the radio, people are requesting like mad as always. The playlist is steadily growing with now over 11,5k songs. I really don't have much to say this time, just stay tuned and be good. Ps. To General ONeil who donated 370USD in July. And totally made my day. It looked ugly there for a while. Have Fun! Date: 2008-06-25, Submitted By: Doff Topic: Radio server crash. While running a scheduled restart of the broadcasting server, it crashed while shutting down. This is a remote server, so we are currently working on contacting the people who can manually restart it. We strongly apologize about this, and hope it will be online again ASAP! Note, do not rate the "currently playing song", this will be concidered cheating the ratings as stated in the faq, and a warning will be given. Thank you for staying with us! *edit: Everything is now back to normal. Date: 2008-06-19, Submitted By: Doff Topic: [Updated!] Password reset/Update your email! Hello! Today, 19th of June 2008, a 'little' problem occurred. This problem led to corruption of almost every user's password, if you can't login, this is most likely the cause. Unfortunately, we cannot rollback this action; therefore, we've chosen to randomize all the effected passwords immediately. You should have recieved an email with your new password. Have you not recived such a mail to the adress you registered with on this site, please send a mail to Yhn(at)AnimeNfo(dot)com Now, people tend to change their mail more often than they should. If you go to your profile page, you are now able to update your email adress, please do so. Edit/Update by Yhn: If you send me a mail, please do include at least your username. Some mails got erased too, so I can't find everyone by their emails. Now, if you have a different mail then before, please also include the old email (security check), or any other info you know about your account that can help me verify you. Thanks in Advance, Yhn Another update (20-06-08): it seems that around 40~50% of the mails got through the SMTP; which was throwing up on all the yahoo.com addresses... Since we can't resend the mails; we'd like you to try using the forgot pass first, before mailing me :P If the forgot pass says it can't find you account, mail me with all details you can remember about your account. Also some cases have been seen where the mail was received, but the random password didn't seem to work, in those cases, also mail me. Mailing me can - thanks to supers - now be done to Yhn(at)AnimeNfo(dot)com - Yhn Small edit (23-06): Spam bots were finding my email, probably here; so I changed it a little; replace (at) with @ and (dot) with . :) Date: 2008-06-06, Submitted By: Doff Topic: June News! And so I see it's time for another news update. First, to all AnimeNfo Radio listeners who still have not registered, please do so, it only takes a minute! You don't know what you're missing! Sheesh, the month sure flew by fast. I'll start with some general news. The past month has actually been the most problematic in a long time for AnimeNfo Radio. This was only because of, I quote: "Houston Datacenter 1 is currently experiencing a critical electrical outage. Resolving this is issue is of utmost priority. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please standby for further updates. Thank you." This outage caused a fire which led to the downtime we've had on some of our servers. The problem should now be resolved, so hopefully we won't be having anymore annoying drop-outs. In other news, I heard that Anime North was a huge success from some of our staff members that were there. I hope that was the case for the rest of you as well. We will hopefully make a bigger deal out of it next time. There has been some back and forth about the 320kbps server for SVIP+. It has now been decided that it's going to stay for good. So for those of you who are able to, enjoy the superb quality, you sure deserve it. I also want to remind people about a few things. AnimeNfo does NOT support linking or distribution of any kind of copyrighted material. I have been getting reports that users have been posting links to songs in our forums. I'm sure it was all honest "didn't know" cases, still, read the FAQ and learn what you can and can not do. For those of you that use IRC, please visit our channel. We have an awesome bot there which enables you to do the exact same thing as you can do when on the site: rate, request etc etc. Give it a shot, the more the merrier! Donators, thank you so much! Running a radio like this would be completely impossible without your help, much appreciated! Stay tuned~ Date: 2008-05-16, Submitted By: Doff Topic: Anime North! If anyone’s planning on attending Anime North in Toronto, Canada on the 23rd to the 25th, be sure to look for Katybear and Freewind. They’ll be there all weekend handing out AnimeNfo Radio buttons and if you’re lucky, you may get a t-shirt! So don’t be afraid to say ‘Hi’ if you see someone walking around in an Nfo shirt ;) We are also donating some prizes to their “Name That Tune” contest, so come and test your anime music knowledge and win some AnimeNfo stuff as well as VIP/SVIP status Date: 2008-05-07, Submitted By: Doff Topic: May News! Hey all cute and cool listeners! Instead of having random news updates about new happenings, we will now be doing one monthly news post. In other words, the news from April is posted now in early May, the news for May will be posted in early June, and so on. Now, for the latest news: Things have been going great with the radio lately, we are nearing listener records every weekend, and things are generally going smooth. The current peak is almost 500, which means 500~ unique listeners tuned in at the same time! FAQ: A few new rules and additions so please read it and find out what's new. Site features: AnimeNfo Radio has affiliated with JaME, which is a nice site posting news about everything relating to Japanese music. They also have biographies about artists, concert schedules and a lot more, so check them out! Don't miss the JaME news box to the right, I like it a lot. Now, a bit of sad news for the SVIPs: The TV is working ok and all, but after testing it for awhile, I have come to the conclusion that it will be simply impossible to cover the cost of something requiring that much bandwidth. Therefore, the TV will be taken down until further notice. In return though, if there is interest from the SVIPs, I can setup the 320k MP3 server again. However, this time, if you want to have access to it and you know you are going to use it, you need to send me a mail stating your username. ULTIMATE VIP: We have added a new level of VIP status for our most dedicated listeners. It is intended to be very difficult to reach this level, and only the absolute most active listeners will receive it. Hopefully this VIP level will provide some motivation for those of you who were already SVIPs and had nothing more to aim for. Of course, this applies to all other users too. There are currently no new privileges for this level, but when the new site we are working on comes online, we will have some nice things for you. Thanks for being patient until then. I am NO longer taking mails about Favourite songs, instead, please post your request in the chatterbox when you see any staff online, may it be me or any of the Mods, and we will add it right away. We have added a new block to the schedule called N/R 7+ which I'm sure some of you have noticed. It is only possible to request songs with a rating of 7 or above during this block. I believe that should be it for now, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to post in the forums, chatterbox, or send me an email. Stay Tuned! |
